I had a Seth Thomas many years ago. Never could use it. My wife finally gave it to my nephew who is a music teacher in Philadelphia school district.

But recently I bought one of these and I have become very fond of it. The "click" is a good imitation of the real deal.

To me, the real advantage of a traditional metronome is not the sound of it but the visual aspect. Seeing the arm swing gives you the advantage of being able to anticipate the beat and hit the note in time.

Wittner Taktell super mini. I agree it gives a visual advantage. Amazon
