Hi. Does anyone know what banjo Chris is playing on the Songs from the River album (CD, what ever)? Thanks

That album is a compilation of songs that spans several albums and time periods, so I'd assume there are several banjos represented. If there is a particular track you're curious about, we may be able to sleuth that out.

Big Bend was recorded with his mahogany rim Heartland banjo built by the late great Robin Smith. In the past several years he has been playing two prewar Gibson TB-3 conversions with Robin Smith necks, 9551-27 and 9551-17 (which he got from me a few years back and is an epic banjo.) he also has several TB-11 conversions, but I don't know if he records or gigs with those.

I also sold Chris a prewar Gibson one piece flange style 1 banjo about 7 or 8 years ago (if I recall correctly) So that banjo could also be played on some of the cuts IF they are after the date I sold Chris that banjo. SO the moral of this story is that Chris obviously owns several banjos and probably plays all of them from time to time, including recording. However, to be sure about all this, that is, which banjos were played on which albums and cuts on each album - one should probably just ask Chris!
