I have a 30’s Kel Kroyden to Style 3 conversion from Jim Britton / Ceres Banjo Works en route on a UPS truck, for delivery today! Neat neck, Blaylock ring, original KK resonator reskinned to style 3, second coordinator rod added…
This will be my first taste of that sweet pre war conversion nectar (assuming it qualifies as such)…. Curious to see how it compares/contrasts with my other banjos — in particular a 1981 Gold Star JD, which (if I have my facts straight) sourced old growth wood from the same mill Gibson used.
I’ve come across so many fine modern era banjos that I didn’t think I’d ever be interested in going down the prewar conversion rabbit hole. But I guess you hang around here long enough…

As often pointed out, not to worry – all our banjos are pre-war..... banjered
