The free tuner apps I have don’t seem to have the a modal tuning aEADE
How can I tune this from an open G
I have nylon strings and also a capo if needed.

From gDGBD raise your B string to C by tuning up half a step (one fret). Your 2nd string at the 2nd fret will match your open 1st string. This will put you in gDGCD. You can practice the tune there as the intervals between the strings are the same as aEADE. If you want to play in A, tune everything up one tone (2 frets) or place a capo at the 2nd fret (don't forget to raise your 5th string).

You can use any chromatic tuner; lot's or free apps have that; often as default.
But as RD points out; to tune by string relationship, frets, and such is very useful to learn. Many advocate learning those by ear methods first, get good understanding.

I'd recommend getting used to how the few most used tunings (gDGBD, gDGCD, gCGCD) sound to your ear so that you can just quickly twist the pegs to get into them.

You don't need a tuner (or tuner-app) that knows banjo tunings, you just need to know what the notes you are after would be.
In this case, aDADE. Any decent chromatic tuner (physical or app) should work. Although what most people would do here is tune the banjo to gDGCD (G-modal, aka sawmill), then put a capo on at the second fret (and tune the fifth up to A, or slip it under a spike at the 7th fret) and use the chromatic tuner to fine-tune. (Since I learned to not put the capo on so tight, I often don't need to fine-tune after capo'ing).
