Entirely too much "puffery" in advertisements. Seems like they can fudge the facts and get away with it. The consumer must be careful and vigilant so he/she doesn't lose money that would be better saved or spent elsewhere.

Insulin got a lot cheaper
I think they're working on price gouging right now.
It's too bad that some folks don't see a need to solve that problem.

Been busy the last few years. This should be the last one. We'll, hopefully the last busy one, not the last one.
Dug out that thing with 4 2/3 strings that makes a half barbaric sound.
Made gumbo a couple weeks ago.

Consumer thinking is something we should teach in school. I've seen too many well educated people make terrible decisions in their personal buying habits. I think there is a high resistance from marketing experts who work for the school boards or the elected government reps in charge of education. If we teach children to be good little wage earners they will become good little consumers and buy more of our worthless products,

I've not attempted any analysis, but I find it interesting [comparison of Canadian income/house prices from 1984 on]:

On the surface I'd say it indicates pressure of some sort for consumers.

Can't say that they even bother with facts. They sell feelings. Centrum: "You did it!" Did what? They imply that you are somehow more active with their supplement. Voltaren: Now you're going dancing. SUV ads: Suddenly you're in the great outdoors (and chewing up the countryside while you're at it), as if you never went anywhere in an ordinary car. Apart from sale ads (often food), we see little about the product or what it can do or what it costs.
Or, as the comedian said, about the product called I Can't Believe It's Not Butter - they don't even tell you what it is. In fact, they only tell you exactly what it isn't.
Advertising is mind games, and they're very good at it.

Talk about dumb advertising, why would anyone want to look that way? I think it would be very embarassing for all concerned.
