How do you control the heat for burning logos on your bridges?
I thought soldering iron?
I've been experimenting with a symbol instead of lettering

I use an Omtech Polar CO2 laser. You can get one of the diode lasers like the Ortur for a few hundred $ though.

I've made dies for burning on wood using a copper printing plate. After getting the plate etched, I cut out the symbol and silver solder it on a brass or steel rod. The rod with the symbol can then be heated up with a torch and pressed into the wood, burning the symbol into it. Here is one company that makes the plates for a very reasonable price. You can likely find someone local to do it for you. Supply them the image you want, and let them know how much you want it reduced on the plate, make sure to tell them to reverse the image you give them so it comes out the right size when you burn it from the copper plate onto the wood.

Different styles/sizes of logos would have their own ideal temp so use a stopwatch and chart how long it takes to heat them up to come up with the right temp to "stamp" the wood as you go along.
The burn logos on banjo bridges seem to have become a doctrine thing to do. It's OK to simply use a sharpie and scribble your name on them. A lot more impressive and automatically a designer bridge that 20 years from now no one has to guess who made it. You could also make a "logo" like the dot in the middle of my Dark Star and Archie bridges, these dots actually light up bright red when you shine a light thru it. Yup, talk about cool and, yeah, talk about that feeling like forever ago since I stopped making bridges :(

I do really like the dot on the dark star and was thinking of something like it but stopped since I didn't want to infringe on someone else's design.

I don't know if they still sell them, but when I was a kid my dad bought me a "wood burning" set. It's like a giant stout soldering gun, but heavier and designed to bear down into wood. I fooled with it a little, but my dad had a blast with it and got fairly talented.

For the Snuffy bridges i have Snuffys original burner which looks like a wood burning kit burner That old timer mentioned . If iam doing a batch of 20 or more the repeated branding keeps the burner at a good temperature. If iam doing a single snuffy bridge i have a test block of maple wood i use to check the progress of the heat up process and do the brand when i like what i see on test block.. I do have a Glastar heat controller in the mix but dont control with it very often. For the last 8-10 years i have been using ink stamps on the Kat Eyz & Prowler bridges Its way cheaper and way faster than branding iron plus i just run to town and see the girls at a local print shop if i need another stamp and in about 4 days its in my mailbox. There book of kool logos and stuff is fun to look through for ideas too! Another great thing about ink stamp is if you mess up putting it on bridge just quickly wipe it off and try again . If iam making a custom weight snuffy bridge and i doof the branding i will be making another bridge cuzz when you sand off burnt in logo your past your final target weight .
