I’m just about to learn my second song (Angeline from the Miles Krassen book)
The tuning is aDADE
I’m confused, is it best to use a capo ( I have one) and if so how’s the best method to get into the tuning from a standard open G tuning
Any help would be most appreciated

From your g tuning, to get to Dd tuning drop your fourth string from d to c,raise your second string from b to c, and capo to the second fret. You will also need to raise the fifth string from g to a.

Thanks. So get into a double c. Then capo at the second and raise the 5th

I’ve also got Mel bays trailing book.
Is Angeline the baker a different song?

You can play it in double C. It is the same thing only not capoed up.

Angeline the baker in Mel bays book says double c. I’ll have a long around and see which I prefer.

I've been playing the Miles K. version for 40 yrs. Still do. Great book. For many yrs I capoed up and retuned. Now I have a short-scale dedicated to aDADE (and aEADE).

Are Angeline and Angeline the baker different songs btw?

I’m about half way through Miles arrangement however I’m a little disappointed as I thought it was the same as Angeline the Baker. There’s not too many versions of Angeline out there.

Miles Krassen's "Angeline" is the same tune as "Angeline the Baker," but the arrangement seems to incorporate some two-finger licks rather than clawhammer. In general, I have found other sources more helpful than this book. Take a look at books and/or videos from Dan Levenson, Art Rosenbaum, Brad Leftwich or tutorials on YouTube. This version below says it is based on Krassen, though it is more thoroughly clawhammer. It also uses drop thumb which is a more beginner-intermediate skill, in my book.

I’m an idiot. I was playing the first half (technically the same) but at a different tempo. After finding and listening to Blanham’s download things have clicked and it’s beginning to sound as it should. Thankyou
