Here’s a great example from Peggy Seeger. She’s a terrific banjo player, but it never gets in the way of the singing.

Thanks for posting this, Bill. I have to advise students fairly frequently to let the lyrics and voice carry the freight and try not to do too much on the banjo as backup.
