Just put my banjo down after playing Darlin' Cora. Straight up unadorned 2ftl BF Shelton inspired style. This was one of the first proper songs I learned on the banjo and haven't played it for ages. It was sheer joy, ringing out beautifully over my mumbled sing/talking. No real question or observation, just had to share my extreme joy with those who understand :-)

Funny! I also just recovered Darlin' Cora, Shelton style in triple C tuning. I first learned it fifty years ago, but i open D tuning f#DF#AD, but later I discovered that triple C or (triple D) was much easier.

I play it both 2FTL and clawhammer, in open C. Mostly from Doc Watson.

I had no idea triple C existed. What is that tuning?

Triple C: gCGCC. The first string is tuned down to the C note of the 2nd string open. it can be real bluesy.

Thats it :-).
just out of interest, in triple C I tune the 5th to E. I think I got it from Alex Barth's 2f website

The story of THAT picture, as it was told to ME, no way to fact-check it, is:
It's a child in a Displaced Person's camp, after World War Two.
To have that much joy, in a place that excremental, after being driven from one's home by the damage that a GLOBAL WAR can cause, makes the picture that much more Hope Inspiring.
And, the kid looks like my sister Lucy did, at that age, which makes it personal.

BF Shelton had his 5th down to E, so eCGCC.

BobTheGambler OK. Not everyone does that. E is a note in the G chord, but if the 5th string is left at G, a strum across all string becomes a power chord. That is great for bluesy, edgy tunes.
