A while back I bought a large Bluechip thumb pick. Plastic large thumb picks fit fine but this Bluechip slips around on my thumb.
Instead of trying to bend it, I cut a couple pieces of cork sheet ( like the drawer liner style left over from a project ) that has an adhesive back. And put the cork inside the thumb pick.
After I took the pics I trimmed the cork flush with the edge of the thumb pick.
The cork fills the gap just enough and it's slip resistance keeps it in place on my thumb even with sweat.
When the cork wears down I'll just replace the cork.
Works fine.

I posted this photo in another thread recently. I put heat shrink tubes around the metal loop. The rubbery surface of the tubes keeps the picks from slipping very well.

Glad you like it! It's not my idea though, I got the idea from this forum, possibly from Owen .

These are both good tips. I don’t know how to explain it, but some days my thumb is smaller than other days. I don’t think bending the band is recommended. I once shattered the blade that way.

I tried the cork liner on a new pair of National finger picks. I just opened the bands slightly and just a minor twist of the band to fit the back of the finger.
They feel great, very secure, no pressure points compared the "regular" picks that I have to bend around and have extra pressure to keep them on.
I can wear the cork lined picks for a long time compared to the "regulars".

The thickness of the cork material seems like it could be a bit much if you’re in the ballpark of proper fitment with large picks…. But it does look sharp, and I bet it’s way more comfy and slip-proof.
After years of searching, I use large bluechip thumbpicks and Sammy Shelor finger picks as they've proven to be the most comfortable for me… but… I still battle sore/torn up cuticles and occasional numb finger tips. It’s gotten to the point I just ignore and muscle through it at gigs and rehearsals, but…. Will definitely give one of these ideas a try at some point!
And I don't know if I'm retaining water or what, but indeed -- day to day -- some days they fit tight, sometimes a bit looser... ya never know!

Shelor makes an 8mm band which I prefer over the 10mm band. Lets my fingers move a bit more and is still just as comfortable as the 10mm bands. Hard to find though!

Sammy Shelor sells his picks through his own web-site. I ordered the wide band without really knowing what the difference would be. The only gripe I have with the Shelors is that the bands seem to be a bit far up from the tip (or the blade too long) which creates a relatively long "lever" from the tip to the bands which lets the bent blade tilt away from the curve of my fingertip with relatively little force applied. This makes the pick feel a little loose on the fingertip even if the bands are really tight.
