Should have asked this weeks ago.

Leaving in just a few hours for 15 days in Thailand (with layover in Istanbul on the way).

We're mostly on a tour, so don't have a lot of free time -- but would like to know of any banjo/bluegrass activity in Bangkok in the coming week or Phuket the first week of February.

We'll be in some other cities, but probably not with time to get to anything. But worth asking.

No, but I've got a friend over there right now touring the country by bicycle. Her photos look really cool and exotic, you sure know that you are not in Kansas anymore! The locals have been very kind and friendly and helpful. Sounds like a fun trip, have a blast. I'll never go as it's several hours more than I could ever spend in an airplane!

Thanks  for the wish.

Length of trip is one reason we  have the layover in Istanbul. Breaks it up into two flights that I think are under 10 hours each.

We flew non-stop DC  to Japan in fall of 22. That was a lot of time in the air.

My friend's boyfriend is flying over to meet up with her, and his flight leaves Sunday evening and arrives Tuesday morning!

I have been to a few places in Thailand , lovely country and people. Never saw anything banjo related though.

A podcast listener named Sunny Sachdev lives in Bangkok, I believe he's on the Picky Fingers facebook group.

Thanks, Keith.

I found the Bangkok Bluegrass group on the web and Facebook. And have exchanged messages with Sunny.

There's an informal  off-schedule jam Saturday at 6. It's about a 40-minute ride from our hotel. But I don't know where we'll be because we have a tour group dinner after a boat ride and dinner probably runs into the jam.

We're missing a show and jam the next night. Oh well
