Ordered this a while back kinda on a lark……
and I love it.
It sounds really good. Really like the wider nut for clawhammer. The only upgrades I did was the Snuffy Smith bridge and an armrest.
This thing is actually a great instrument at a nice low price. My other banjos to compare are a Gold Tone CC-100 circa 2002-3, and an 04’ RB3 Mastertone bluegrass banjo.
For what it is you can’t beat this thing IMO. For clawhammer I prefer it over the CC100 cause of the neck profile and also the tone. The 12” pot sounds great, even if it is plastic.
Goes without sayin it exceeds by orders of magnitude the old Bakelite Harmonys.
I like it so much I am ordering the full scale AC-12 version as soon as a new batch comes up on the GT website.

I spoke with Gold Tone, they developed and ordered a new plastic. I've seen the Rover rim over here, it is not the same kind of thing.
The AC's are clear and loud.
They have a wooden neck that is standard Gold Tone to my knowledge
