Did Gibson use 1/2" bridges on these. The banjo I got has neck issues and I think someone tried to compensate some by using a short bridge and filing it on one side.

I've played a '63 RB-170 for 12 years. I've also had several 170s and 175 long necks, full thickness and thin rims. The ones I've needed to adjust the neck, I've loosened the coordinator rod at the rim top and bottom and outside the bottom of the pot and lag bolt nut inside the top. The rim holes that both heel lag bolts passed through were enlongated at the factory, no matter which 170 or 175. This allowed me to change the fretboard height. It doesn't allow for neck tilt like on 60s Vega banjos, but it works. I use a 5/8" bridge with a calfskin head, but I could go 11/16". As you know, it wouldn't hurt the banjo to take a look. Chances are your '67 has the same enlongated rim-to-heel mounting holes. Mine have.

5/8" on the '66 I had.

If it helps my RB-175 longneck (not sure what year exactly) has a 5/8" which I believe to be original. I bought it from the original owner who told me it was the factory bridge.

Thanks. This is what I thought. I just bought a 170 with serious neck issues. The bridge was filed down to compensate. I'm sending it back, but wanted to confirm this. When I put a 5/8 on, the action is ridiculous.
