The way I put my banjos together puts a fair amount of tension on the pie pieces that make up the back of the them. The slight expansion has been causing them to crack through the join. So I have tried a few different solutions. To make it simple I looked up carbon fibre skinning & applied that technique but substituted pure hemp fabric for the carbon fibre. As we all know carbon fibre is very strong but this application doesn’t need to be that strong. Hemp is the strongest natural fibre & it is still strong enough for this job. I put down a layer of laminating resin, 4hrs later fitted the single sheet of hemp fabric & another layer of resin, 4hrs later put put down a 3rd layer of resin & after another 4hrs added the 4th & final layer of resin. After each coat of resin I applied heat via a hot air gun to bring the air bubbles to the surface. After 3 days I wet sanded it smooth.

Genius. I have a Tone Tubby hemp cone speaker in my banjo amp (it's a tube amp) and it sounds fantastic.

Bamboo is our friend. My dogs have Hempen harnesses.
Hemp for a cone speaker, very green.
