Got some cash from a record deal in 74, so out to McCabes Santa Monica went I to get a coupla instruments. Guitar tech was free at the window so I said,"lookin' for a banjo, 5 string. He said, "Haven't got a banjo per se, but I've got a pot over there, used to belong to A.C. Mundi, 4 hole silver tone ring with his cowboy belt scars on the one-piece curly maple resonator. And on the wall is my first curly maple neck with hearts and flowers. I'll put those together for ya if you want." I said "I want." The pot is 1950 s/n 881-56 Mastertone, the neck is Fiddlehead. His name was Larry Brown. I also bought this plain vertical hole Lyon and Healy Washburn Mandolin. Played them both in the Troubador Midnight House band on Mondays '75-78. Dave Edwards

Allen Mundi sounds right, I had a production deal with RCA, Jeff Barry producing my songs with David Foster on piano Lee Ritenour on el guitar, Ronnie Blakely, Renee Armand and Gail Davies on bg vocals on"Partners on the Road" and Rose and the Ribbons. Doug Weston gave Joel Tepp. the Hoot MC the stage on Midnight mondays and aske us to make a band. We would rehearse at Dickie Davis' house in the valley with a swimming pool we would have burritos and beer on Sunday then perform it Monday night. Ernie Hagars, Steve Diamond, Severin Browne, Jeff Percaro,Colin Cameron,Gail Davies, Deanna Brady, Joel Tepp on slide, we would feature our own songs and feature Steven Bishp on his songs.

WOW! An original 50's complete Gibson Mastertone flathead OPF pot, & maple resonator, and a Larry Brown curly maple, hearts and flowers, fiddle peg head neck. You sure lucked out on that banjo. Congratulations.  Bet it sounds great.

Larry was a master Luthier. He also built his own bamboo fly rods & tied his own flies as well.

Pictures please.

Also, of the Lyon and Healy Washburn Mandolin.
