I noticed a trend with the children’s comments. They may not know how to cook turkey but by googly their the dessert menus are the bliss.

Too bad we've already had Thanksgiving (Oct 10), I'd like to try a couple of those recipes. Oh well. there's always next year.............. Or maybe Christmas.

I have a turkey hunting story from today. I work with a guy I call Box Car Stevie in my mind. He's a couple years younger than me & carries a spoon in his top jean jacket pocket. He'll open a can of cold ravioli with his busted can opener & when he's done he wipes the spoon off on his pant leg then back in the pocket!
We were talking about the bird flu epidemic on the mainland. 15 infected farms & counting. I don't know how farmers can do it, He said he went turkey hunting a few times & i mentioned the time I caught a wild turkey in a cardboard box.
I asked him if he had a gun license or needed a tag. He said No. They use bows & that's it. Sounds fishy to me so I tried to look it up. Couldn't find anything that said that it's illegal!
He said he goes on the logging roads with his buddy on their small CC street bikes where there's lots of turkeys. They rode all over hells half acre. I asked him if they ever had any luck. He said they came upon some that were sleeping in a tree.
I asked him if he bagged a few. He said they were hanging upside down from their feet! Now Steve doesn't see, hear or smell too good so i don't believe in the upside down part. I asked him if maybe it was big bats!?
He said he couldn't shoot one when it was sleeping!! He said "That's just mean!! " Ha! Ha!
I razzed him saying he'd be great in a deer stand. Shoot a warning shot over it's head first!
I don't think the turkeys have anything to worry about!
