I haven't been into Manhattan for entertainment purposes since March 2020. The last time I was in the vicinity of Carnegie Hall, the whole place was a ghost town. It was before shut downs, but there was no one there. My job was on spring break, so I went in early for a music class and walked instead of taking the bus uptown. Plenty of leg room in every cafe and deli I entered - people watching with a mandolin and a viola and a tote bag full of music and manuscript paper. I sat in an overpriced juice bar for hours working out a transcription of Davy Grahams Anji as a cello/mandolin duet, and they never bothered to try to encourage me out to free the table - the city was vacant. I could tell whatever was about to happen would be memorable - but really had no way to anticipate it would be life changing for literally the entire world.
Anyway - this journey next Friday will be like getting to place the bookend on the other side of that for me. Can't wait. And yes, I said mandolin, viola, and cello before I bothered to write "banjo" in the post - but I'm still putting it in this forum because it's most likely the only show I'll ever see where at some point 4 people will be playing the banjo at once.

Saw this show a few years ago, and it's well worth it. Worth picking up the solo work by each member as well: I already had pretty much everything Rhiannon Giddens has ever done, but Amythyst Kiah and Leyla McCallah were completely new to me.

Shoulda been in Palmyra, NY, a week or so ago. I got to play Cello-banjo in a banjo orchestra! 10-15 players? Piccolo, Banjeaurines, Regular, 2 Cello-banjos...all 5-strings. Audience was random people from the hotel.
Much fun!
I'd go to the Native Daughters show in a heartbeat.
