I want a video to appear in a post other than just adding the URL but it doesn't seem to work for me.

I have searched here for the process of uploading videos from Youtube but when I get to the point where it tells me to check if the video is in the archives, the link disappears.

you see my cursor hit it at 0,18--at the bottom of the you -tube vid --between the black hand and the word save===wayne

This sometimes works for me:  Rt. click on the screen while the Youtube video is playing ... this brings up a list of options ... L. click on "<>copy embed code" ... bring up your BHO post [in rich text] ... in the upper L. corner there is an icon and the word "Source" ... L.click on it .....put the cursor wherever in your text you want the video to appear [Fwiw, I usually do my "typing" first] .... simultaneously press Ctrl/V  ... check "preview" .... if things look okay press "post reply."  YMMV.

Disclaimer:  Computer/internet is an area where my ability could be lower than banjo... caveat emptor.

pretty much what i said --only i hit share to get the imbed code option instead of a right click

I kinda figured  that might be the case Tom, but like music/banjo I need the [extreme?] KISS approach.  And,fwiw, I've noticed both with music/banjo and computers, my definition of KISS apparently is w-a-y behind that of more knowledgeable people.

I had started watching the link in your first post, but could make neither heads nor tails of it.  sad

Thanks Owen and Tractor1; I've been wanting to learn how to do this myself. Can you also explain how to embed a photograph or other graphic file, so that it shows up in the body of a post? I've never been able to figure out how to do that.

Click on "Rich Text" to leave the "Plain Text". Then click on the Image icon and past the link…

Well, my ^^ approach could probably be summarized as "bumble along," so it's probably best to defer to others.... at least for now.   wink   But, having said that, my first crack at it usually involves some form of "click and drag" (?).

I think next time i will suggest slow it down and watch the cursor---Owen-- Personally I learn this stuff by doing it wrong -until I stumble through =
as far as photos--I upload them to my page so they become available as an attachment at the bottom of the post creation box

Thanks for responding Emiel.  But with my browser, which is Microsoft Edge, it appears to be more complex than what you suggest.  I tried doing what you suggest with a jpg file stored on my BHO home page.  When I right click that image, I get a drop-down menu that gives me three copy choices: "copy link", "copy image", "copy image link".  Which of those three should I use?

Also, you indicate that after I click on the "Image" icon in the "Rich Text" mode, I should "paste the link".  However, when I click on the "Image" icon, I get an "Image" dialog box that precludes me from pasting the link directly into the body of the post.  I tried pasting links into the "Image" dialog box, but I keep getting error messages from BHO.
