Hi all,
Never really had time for banjo, although I have had a few in my past... one being a huber 12" fretted that was brand new I sold about 5 years ago.. and gave away my deering to a teen who needed one.. brand new! well.. Last Oct I had a right cerubellum stroke (#2) and had to teach myself to walk again.. my hands and arms are good and heart too.. doctors stumped.. me too. I am 65 and 3/4 and had to go on short/then longterm disability..
I am a ham and love CW and making my own radios, but I do dearly love old time music. I was encouraged by Josh at Brainjo to try and pick up 2 finger or clawhammer banjo.
Well, I (hopefully) found the banjo for me an Enoch Tradesman that I purchased about a week ago.. hopefully it comes.. the listing disappeared, but the seller has been communicating via email.. he has all the $... should see this in about a week or so... Anyway hopefully will be posting much much more soon.

From one Virginian to another, glad you are doing OK, and I really like my Enoch tradesman fretless.

Hi Jolly Rodger. We do not live so far from each other. I am looking forward to my new (to me) banjo. Thanks for wishing me well. Thanks

Only an hour apart. Let me know if you want to get together and try to pick out some tunes.

Welcome. My wife and I coordinate the Williamsburg Old Time Jam. Give me a shout if you are ever coming down and we will let you now when we are meeting. Right now it varies with the availability at The Brass Cannon Brewery where we currently meet, usually sometime on Sunday afternoon.

Good luck with the banjo, and we hope it works out for you.

Hi all,
Maybe I will start a thread.. or look some more. This site is vast.
I like to sing and ballads tickle my fancy. I want to start keeping a notebook of sorts.
Probably an old request but here goes.
1. Keeping a written (by hand) notebook of songs, lyrics, and notes with flouroush's (sp?)
2. Notekeeping methods and notation.
3. Hand written notes will help my memory. I write everything down now. (esp after 2 right cerubellar strokes)

I did find this on the web as a start for writing notes from:
An Annotated Compendium of Old Time American Songs
amazon.com/Annotated-Compendiu...11&sr=8-1

There may be others online.. I live in sticks and it is for my own use and families...

ANY ideas welcome and thanks!

Guy
