You under priced it there bud.

I can’t stand to see a fellow picker get ripped off

Raise the price a little bit and everyone all parties involved will be getting a good deal

With the price listed and no photo's I would be surprised if you get many offers. It is always in how you market with text, price and photos that helps make the sales.....that is unless your really not interested or care if this sells.

That sounds like a great deal man, just about as good of a deal as the Greg Rich era banjos I have for sale. I want 9k for each one lol.

Dear Sir:

I would like to purchase your prewar banjo. Before funds can be sent. I will need your assistance before funds can be forwarded to you..

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company has recently concluded a large number of contracts for oil exploration in the sub-Sahara region. The contracts have immediately produced moneys equaling US$1,000,000.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company is desirous of oil exploration in other parts of the world, however, because of certain regulations of the Nigerian Government, it is unable to move these funds to another region.

You assistance is requested as a non-Nigerian citizen to assist the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, and also the Central Bank of Nigeria, in moving these funds out of Nigeria. If the funds can be transferred to your name, in your United States account, then you can forward the funds as directed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company. In exchange for your accommodating services, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company would agree to allow you to retain 10%, or US$100,000 of this amount to purchase the banjo

However, to be a legitimate transferee of these moneys according to Nigerian law, you must immediately ship the banjo at which point a cashiers check from the Central Bank of Nigeria will be sent upon receipt of the banjo.

Please include your social security number, bank account number and ATM Pin so I can verify you are a legitimate seller. There are so many scammers out there it is necessary for me to run a financial background check before sending the funds.  One must excersise caution these days to keep from being ripped off.

I appreciate your patience and effort to complete our transaction and eagerly await the arrival of this fine instrument.

I think Terry has the best response so far. I'm glad to see someone answer the ad in the tongue in cheek fashion in which it was posted.

BTW if you're interested in a trade, Frankie, I have a Gibson Bow Tie copy that I made a few years ago. Decent sound, fit, and finish, and I can make you an iron clad guarantee that it was not made by Gibson. Just thought I would throw that out there. I would require a little cash in the trade.

I really like Terry’s response, but it must be a double scam somehow since his English is way too good. I haven’t figured out how this weird scam with good English might be a double scam, but there has to be a sting operation in there somewhere.

I am pretty sure I used to own that one. Was in serial number 1?

I tried...I purposely misspelled the word exercise in the second to last sentence in an attempt to inject a bit of legitimacy. You guys are onto me. crying

LOL.  I guess we've all pulled that one, right--let it disappear for a few months then add a few hundred and see what happens.

I think GRich might have touched this banjo once.  Does that increase the value?  Do I need to go to $125,000?

Can we just trade the oil stock for the banjo?

I'm glad you like the ad and understand the spirit in which it was offered.  I love Bow ties!  But I hate most of hte Bow ties that Gibson made, save a few....lol.

Well, if it sells for my asking price I'll be happy to pay whatever the taxes are!

You betcha!  I think we could all use a little comic relief right now.

rcc56 - Posted - 01/24/2022:  20:12:10

It'll never sell, Frankie. Your copy is not tantalizing enough.

Add one or more of the following:

1. Tons of mojo.

2. Rarest of the rare.

And last but not least:

3. Find another one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If that doesn't work, you might try replating the 5th string tuner button "Granada Gold."

LOL, I love it!  "Frankie's Vintage Mojo" is the name of my reverb shop!

In that case I'll have to make a video--lol!  It really is an enjoyable little piece.

Well, I was going to suggest that earlier, but decided to wait.
How about a rousing rendition of "Moggy Fountain's Break-up" in double D minus tuning?

Also, if you catch him on the right day, perhaps Mr. Rich could be cajoled into adorning the head with one of his unique paintings, signed, of course . . .

Or if that's not do-able, perhaps he would at least be willing to write a letter of provenance with some magic words . . .
