Hmm ... $17.00 from my closest Dominos. What kind of gold-plated lettuce are you buying?

Blimey!! I hope they were ostrich wings at that price.

In 2007 there were about 7.5 Trillion US Dollars in the world.

In 2022 there are about 22 Trillion US Dollars in the world.

You don't have to be Milton Friedman to understand why things are more expensive than they used to be.

We are being robbed blind by non-governmental international bankers that have no accountability to the people and no allegiance to our country. This will not stop unless one of two things happens: 1) The currency collapses or 2) the international bankers are stripped of power and expelled from the country.

Mod note: This is a post about economics rather than politics.

Ahh ... but Figmo posting inflammatory nonsense in order for you to respond with more inflammatory nonsense is political. Neither of you fool anyone.

Sorry, that last sentence apparently isn't true. You must manage to fool somebody, or you wouldn't bother.

kww I think we're mature enough to acknowledge that you're in the same cohort of "people that toe the line of what is/isn't political". I'm sure the rest of the "usual gang of idiots" will be here soon enough (note: I'm in that group too, don't take it personally). I like to think that between the few of us, we double the BHO traffic stats which helps keeps the lights on here. It's almost a community service effort, if you think about it.

No need to talk about the people though, let's talk about the ideas. It's appropriate to clarify that my previous post in this thread is not nonsense, it's easily verifiable fact.

Good Gawd not another conspiracy. Living on a fix income and saying something about the price of items? good grief...Mankind has been protesting verbally the price of a king’s loaf of bread since the advent of coinage.

It's the wings. Finding a buffalo with wings is really hard.

And they're really big wings.

Everyone knows that Metric Coke is the expensive kind.

A litre instead of the American liter would be cheaper

And...... is it, "Special .... small pizza, etc." or a small special pizza?   IF it's really, really special maybe the price isn't out of line.   cheeky

Figmo, you got fleeced.

Use the curved back side of Naan bread. I just paid $2.00 for a package of 4. They are flat breads, kind of like a pizza crust. Oval, somewhat bigger than your open hand.

Salsa for sauce. Red & green peppers, thin slice onion, some salami & Pepperoni, grated 3 cheese mix. Bake on a sheet @ 400F 20 mins. Load all 4 in the package. Partly baked froze really well to reheat.

What I see is that 1 of them is really quite a lot to eat for a meal. I used to make my own crust from scratch. These things have good taste and texture. There's a cumin-doped variety that would be nice.

For $80 here, I can get enough Chinese take out to feed me fat and sassy for 3-4 days.

Remsleep - Posted - 01/10/2022:  13:16:31

$38 for me if I pick it up - that was ordering the most expensive item in each of the listed categories.

$42 for delivery and tip seems overly generous to me, and I'm a decent tipper.

banjo bill-e - Posted - 01/10/2022:  13:44:19

Al, wanna give us a breakdown on price per item? I can't come up with any way that amount of food could cost that much. Unless delivering through a snowstorm was included, that is. Was it delivery or pickup?

Owen - Posted - 01/10/2022:  14:39:13

      @ 1.27 exchange rate 80 US $ = 101 CDN.

Best deal we've come across is an outfit a half hour east [N & L Restaurant, Rossburn, MB] that sold their "loaded" 15ish incher [a good 3/4" thick.... not an unduly thick crust] for $28 Cdn. last time we were in.

It was $26 pre-that which shan't be mentioned.... we haven't been lately, as we're trying to not be selfish, irresponsible idiots. no

It seems like they are jacking up the prices on everything! Buddy at work said there's a grocery store downtown that's charging $10 a Doz. for eggs!

They had an big ice storm in my hometown a while back. One of the hardware stores started charging double for everything.

When things got back to normal everybody remembered & they went out of bushiness.

Tonight is a simple chicken curry with good basmati rice. Bulk so I can build a BIG curried chicken Chow Mien day after tomorrow's Naan pizza extravaganza.
The Naan breads take all the fuss out of home pizza. The right size and shape and taste and texture. Load and bake.

1. Cored apple slices* over French Dressing, bleu cheese, pecans, rosemary.
2. Cored pear slices* over Ranch Dressing, fine dice ham and cheeses.
* baked at 400F, need 1/2" thick slices or they cook to slop.

Yeah, wings are pricey right now, but drumsticks are dirt cheap if you cook your own, and "Buffalo Drumsticks" are still tasty.
And a $20 small pizza better be a real good pizza!

Wings used to be the cheapest part of the bird, now the most expensive, leg, thigh, leg quarters are now the cheapest, and i like them

--"Wings used to be the cheapest part of the bird,-"

This. In the 80s before the national wing craze began, our local KFC was selling a good sized box of fried wings--enough for two people-- for like $5. They could barely give them away.

Paul R - Posted - 01/11/2022:  14:44:59

There's an episode of Murdoch Mysteries where Inspector Brackenrieid travels to Buffalo on a case. In the evening he's in an establishment and starving, but the kitchen's out of food. He spots a staff guy carrying a tray of raw chicken wings and asks what's happening. The guy says he's throwing them out - they're just wings, waste. Brackenreid orders him to fry them up. Cut to Brackenreid eating the fried wings and wondering why Americans throw out good food, and the manager wondering why Canadians eat garbage.

chuckv97 - Posted - 01/11/2022:  15:40:07

The actual distal part of the wing IS garbage, imho

Owen - Posted - 01/11/2022:  16:48:15

When I was a kid we used the distal part of a goose wing for sweeping stair treads.... good for getting into the corners, we were told.

bubbalouie - Posted - 01/11/2022:  18:57:57

Terry remembers when the used to give the wings away. They would use them to make chicken stock.

After turkey holidays I keep my eyes open for wings & legs. I've made some wicked Cajun stuffed turkey wings & have cured & smoked the legs for Disney legs! I was standing in the checkout line with a dozen legs & the lady ahead of me had a bunch too. I asked her what she was doing with them & she said dog food! They were a buck each!
