I tried to download the tab library intermediate level version of "Banjo Signal". The download attempt fails and an error message says the failure was due to a virus. Does this problem happen to other BNL members or is it limited to my computer system ?

That's your anti-virus being overzealous.

Not so. I removed my anti-virus application and still have the problem. The problem will probably require a Windows Registry modification. I will probably end up paying someone to fix a problem I did not create.

A little info. In its early days, a person using the Microsoft operating system could contact Microsoft for customer support.
And, when you bought a computer, you were provided with 2 or 3 user manuals. What did you get with the latest computer you purchased ?

As far as I can see there is no Banjo Signal tab online at Banjo Newsletter assuming BNL stands for Banjo Newsletter.

I just looked and I couldn't find it, either. How did you find it? Maybe one of us could download it for you?

Edited to add:  were you looking at BNL or at the Hangout?  There are several tabs for Banjo Signal here in our archives.   Maybe one of them would be what you want.

No problem with BHO. I can't download anything for anywhere. I get the error message "Virus Scan Failed". Email works O.K. though. More and more I think Windows 10 is causing the problem. I know I had not changed anything.

Temporarily disable your antivirus program & see if that makes any difference. If it does, either update or replace your antivirus program.

What browser are you using? I googled "Windows 10 Virus Scan Failed" and see lots of references to fixing this error in Chrome.

Have you tried different browsers with the same result?

I just looked at the tabs at BNL and they are for sale and are not free and not all the ones that appeared in print are online.

Finally solved the problem. The problem was Windows 10 security software. I had to change a setting in the Registry. There are lots of recommended postings on how to fix the problem, but most did not work. Eventually I found a post that was simple, accurate, and most of all, COMPLETE. The post I found was in a user forum, not Youtube. Some recommendations on Youtube were close, but omitted key steps.

WARNING - changing a registry is dangerous and can cause major problems. Have a qualified person do this.

OT: I got to work in a lab out at Brookhaven National Laboratory when I was in gradschool. They had a gym and some intramural sports and random clubs including a couple music groups. Every time the BNL gets mentioned here I get excited thinking "oh wow - that's close - I wonder if they'll let me sit in - I wonder if I know anyone - I didn't know there were that many people playing banjo out here..." and then I remember what it really means.
