coming from certain genres swapping octaves has been pretty well acceptable . So it seems to me .
But Eddy was hitting 9ths 11ths etc. They seem to mix much better than their counter parts an octave down.

not to get into heavy duty chord theory .Eddy would hit a really pretty sound and announce it as something above 8 in the number of some added tone. For example an added ninth. If I decided to drop it down to an added second it would be harmonically overbearing in comparison.
With 4 strings it was amazing what he could find in variety
