I’ve seen lots of pictures of Paramount banjos with archtop tone rings, they sure look beautiful.

But I’ve never played one. What are they like to play?

Is the tone more treble-y than a B&D or a Vega?

Thanks!

Will

Go to the French Quarter in NO and you are liable to see a bunch of old Paramounts being played. I really like them. I had a Paramount Leader tenor that sounded really good.

Will, do a youtube search for Mal Cooper banjo. Mal plays a Paramount style C plectrum and gets a very characteristic and sweet sound from his. There are numerous videos that feature Mal. You might couple his name to these tunes when you search: Keeping Out of Mischief Now, Sleepy Time Gal, the Jitterbug Waltz. Best regards, --Cjazz

I used to go to jams where "banjo Mike" played a Paramount plectrum. It sounded great.
