Today marks the one year anniversary of the passing of the great Eddy Davis...Banjo Hall-of-Famer, performer, teacher, composer, musicologist and most generous contributor to lovers of the tenor banjo!

Rest in Peace and know how much you are missed!

I miss Eddy every time I pick up my banjo. He was the victim of Covid that I knew personally and it hit me like a ton of bricks falling on my head. I plan to call Ruth and write Conal this morning.

RIP Eddy!

One of the greats. His loss was a shock to many of us.

A big loss…, also for the Banjo Hangout.

Thankfully we can still watch his many videos and performances. A great legacy he left us all!

Ernie
In one of my communications with Eddy in the year before his passing, I mentioned to him the value of his immense video library and suggested that he take steps to ensure its availability for posterity!
Covid hit NYC so quickly and so ferociously and he was gone...so I am hoping his treasury of videos will be preserved and protected by Ruth and his estate for tenor banjo aficionados going forward.

While I realize this has nothing to do with playing advice, I'm moving it to Playing Advice: 4 string. That's where Eddy spent most of his time on the Hangout and I think the people on that forum would appreciate being able to see and add to this thread.

I miss Eddie. I learned a lot from him, and he was complimentary of my idiosyncratic-I-am-going-to-adapt-guitar-technique playing. He will continue to be missed, but I am glad I knew him through this forum.
