I've just read on Facebook that Polle Flaunoe passed away yesterday: that's a severe loss for banjo players and for B&D lovers. R.I.P.

Very sorry to hear that news. His Bacon banjo serial number chart was a consistent go-to when I needed to get a manufacturing date for a Bacon banjo. I always forwarded Bacon banjo information to Polle when I had one that wasn't on his list and received a thank you each time. I do hope he has named an heir to keep that site on the web. I copied the text recently and I recommend every other Bacon fan do the same in case that website goes dark.

Saddened by the news. Wished I had met him. I did copy his web site and saved it with all my Bacon Professional files.

That is very sad. He always answered my emails, and offered help. A good man.

Stunner. It’s a sad thing for the banjo world, but far sadder for his family and loved ones. Losing such a genuinely selfless contributor to banjo lore hits hard.

Damn. We will all miss Polle and his dedication to the instrument we love.

And how nice to see so many respectful tributes from five-string players... perhaps somewhere Polle is smiling about that...

God speed. When I aquired my private labeled Bacon tenor Polle was very generous via email in helping me fix it up.
