I'm looking at potentially buying an old Paramount/Lange banjo. I checked it out yesterday, but like an idiot, I didn't take any pictures.
The pot seemed authentic, but the neck appeared like a replacement. It had simple dot inlay patterns that weren't typical of the jazz banjos from the 20s. But I did a little research and the neck looks VERY similar to a the inlay pattern of a Paramount Junior. However...
1) It was a 5 string with 21 (or 22) frets
2) There was no Paramount logo on the head stock. And it didn't appear similar to the headstocks that I've seen on pictures of Paramount Juniors today. The headstock just had a small Vega-like headstock design
Also, the neck appeared to be made of the separate cuts of wood that really seemed to match the resonator (and stripe on the resonator).
Is there any chance that this could actually be a 5 string Paramount Jr with an original neck?
