I recently acquired a 60's Fender Concert Tone Custom plectrum. I decided to have the frets redone and when I removed the neck I noticed that S101 was stamped on the heel. Anybody know what S101 might mean?
I also posted the same question on the Fender banjo group page.

Hi, John. Because the banjo dates from the 1960's, it would be my guess that might be a Salstrom serial number. Fender acquired Salstrom as part of their entry into the banjo market. You might want to contact Scott Zimmerman, Desert Rose on the BHO, who is the most knowledgeable person on the Salstrom acquisition by Fender and is your best bet for the information you want. --Cjazz
