These two will appear in my forthcoming Mel Bay book, Classical Studies for Tenor Banjo, which contains 40 studies and repertoire pieces for Tenor Banjo.

Fresh as can be, new recordings done today, with my shiny new Deering Sierra Tenor. CGDA tuning, Thomastik-Infeld strings, Gibson EH plectrum.

I've always admired the sonority of the banjo because it's very harpsichord-like (though my harpsichord reminds me more of a plectrum banjo sound rather than a tenor).

I've thought about taking on one of the organ works for multitracked "banjo orchestra" - e.g. youtube.com/watch?v=770rJqDwRXo

the problem is finding a banjo that can handle the low C1 of the pedal part.

Either, way, I'm buying this book. Thanks for making it.

Cheers, Matt. Best wishes for your multi-Bach project. Do share it if you ever get it realised. The organ works are magnificent.

As always your phrasing is clean and accurate, a poeasure to listen...

Btw did you hear that funny ode to joy I realized togheter with Andy Taylor?
It is in the sound post forum

The clarity of tone on your new acqusition comes across nicely Rob.

Have you listened to the James Kibbie recordings made on the original organs Bach himself premiered them on? Fascinating project.

The U of M maintains free downloads of that project. Hours of Bach on those old pipe organs, some with manual bellows.

I've just listened to the Passacaglia in Cm - wow!

Totally unrelated to banjo but in this vein AllofBach has been doing really fantastic free recordings of pretty much every Bach work: youtube.com/watch?v=zNhdTRyizBA

Is just an example.

They're Dutch so they have access to many original instruments and are doing it with historically informed practices.

Yes, I subscribed to them months ago. Great musicians doing a great, free project. I even sent them a little money.
