A recent attempt at THE most classic rag. Sometimes sloppy technique, but nonetheless sincere...this is jazz after all. (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.)

Sounding really good Bob...one of my favorite songs...and not an easy one to play. Great sounding banjo by the way too.

Thank you kindly, Texican65 . I also should have credited Howard Alden for my best recollection of the coda at the end which he played with the NY Banjo Ensemble years ago. One of my early mentors said, "When you're stealing ideas, make sure you're stealing them from the best...."

very nice. where did you get the backing track for it?

That's impressive. I enjoy watching and listening to you play.

Thanks ronatr . The backing track was mostly the left hand of Joplin's original piano sheet which I transcribed into Finale NotePad with a couple of mods for parts where I chose to take some liberties.
It's interesting using this setup for certain tunes because the nature of the output is very strict and even time-wise, which you hear pretty clearly in the 4 bar intro. Once the banjo comes in, I can adjust my rhythmic attack to make it "swing" more and not sound as mechanistic. It's a variant of what the gypsy jazz crew do where the steady pulse of "La Pompe" sets the basis for the soloists to fly off into the stratosphere.
