I haven't tried yet but I think you shall write dots (.) instead of hyphens (-), and skip the blank just before the @ , or possibly underscore (_) instead of the hyphens in the left part of the address.
It is a way to protect from robots and scams, and it is a also a way to test the intelligence of the banjo player who want the tabs.

I haven't heard anything back but finally quit getting the 'mail failure' message after dropping the dashes but keeping the me.com
