That makes $1550 plus shipping (maybe $100/150 to US), seems a fair price, if it's all original.

I think that would be fair price! It being a archtop instead of a ball bearing. They can be setup to be a good sounding banjo!

The resonator has no top binding. 1927 TB 3s in this FON range had double binding on the resonator.

Notice the ad is in Germany (I think), so getting it to the US could have "issues".

You really have to watch out for folks misrepresenting their 26 for a 27. Big value difference.

That’s not one of them but there one on eBay right now, as I described, advertised as 27 or 28 and it’s a ball bearing 26. There’s also a style 0 on eBay now advertised as an RB-250.

Banjophiles shows a bunch of 8823-XX TB 3s made in 1927. It's entirely possible it's double bound resonator got damaged, and replaced with a resonator from another banjo.

Also, it appears to me the tuners have been replaced/update. Probably not such a bad thing, the original tuners would have been pretty poor Grover "Two-tabs".

The MASTERTONE block in the neck has the appropriate old funky font.

At $1550 it might be a good candidate for 5 string conversion. May be a bit overpriced to keep and use as a tenor.

That’s the kind of money a ball bearing tb3 goes for ($1500 and up), an arch top should bring more. I noticed in his ad he says his insurance company won’t cover any shipping damages or something to that effect. That would be one thing to really be thinking about, if one was planning on buying.
