Hi everyone, I hate to ask. But, I'm wanting to buy an old Vega Regent in decent shape. The seller, who is not at all familiar with banjos, sent a photo that shows it has a plectrum neck that was grafted to be a 5 string. The work was done decades ago by a competent luthier. Without naming a price, how much lower show I offer, percentage-wise? I'm a social worker, not a millionaire or a collector. The thing is in good playing shape, but I don't want to throw my money away on something I could never sell if I chose another banjo down the line. Thanks for your input BHO banjoists!

Plectrum banjos are the least in demand of all vintage banjos. Most folks would only buy a Vega Regent or similar for the rim. Considering the significant alteration, the neck has no real value. So it's worth the price of the rim.

Thanks Bob, I really appreciate your input, and the Liberty Bearclaw tailpiece you sold me, now tempering my Vega FP-5. Cheers!
