After listening to my instructor's version of Rondo Alla Turca on one of his albums, I have been really getting into listening to Classical music with a banjo on Spotify but not sure which artists play this other than Bela Fleck's Perpetual Motion Album and all of what John Bullard has. Any other artists/albums?

Please note I am asking about Classical music like Mozart or Bach and not classic music like Flatt & Scruggs or JD Crowe :)

Probably the guy most noted for this would be Jens Kruger, who you should definitely check out.

Rob MacKillop

Claudio Parravicini May have some classical songs as he has a book on classical banjo.

He plays classic style banjo, not classical. Totally different.

Pretty much all the people I know of doing classical have not put out a classical album. Lluis Gomez is one to check out if you have not, all his albums are pretty much bluegrass though.

Lots on youtube, not really any on spotify other than the ones you listed.

Along with a few others not played on cello banjo. Yes, I understand that "classic" banjo is different from "classical" banjo. Of course he does not play strictly classical music but I think he is a good example of someone who does play classical pieces.

I will listen to some of the other players listed, too.

Don't miss John Bullard on Spotify

Thanks, I've looked into all suggestions but none that have been mentioned I didn't already know about in terms of actual classical music. Can't find any classical pieces by Jens Kruger and Claudio isn't on Spotify. So far the only 2 are:

Bela Fleck
John Bullard
A couple songs by Charles Wood

It is a bummer that there are not more. Even if you look outside Spotify or Itunes, there just isn't much.

I emailed John Bullard, maybe he can supply additional resources.

Also an offshoot to my question, he has a song called Hornpipe that sounds like a song that might be played by a bard in a medieval tavern or king’s court. It doesn’t sound like true classical music. Would anyone have a more appropriate genre title for music like that, and perhaps other players who have songs in a similar ilk?

John is the nicest and most approachable guy ever.  I encourage you to ask him any and everything!

Yes I found that out, he replies to my emails immediately and is very informative and helpful. His 2 styles are Baroque and Renaissance classical music.

I see several albums from Rob MacKillop on Spotify, but none appear to feature banjo. They look to mostly have other instrumentation like guitar and lute. I haven’t gone through the albums track by track yet, so there could be a track here and there with actual banjo being used.
