What a circus. They try every trick in the book. A sad example of customer service.

Try leaving Comcast, Verizon, ATT, etc. They all make it most difficult to discontinue service.

I always use that excuse..... that I want to unsubscribe..... when it comes time to renew and they want to bill me for an entire year or nearly $20 a month. Tell them it's too much and just unsubscribe me. Usually gets me to someone who has a "special" just for me and I get another 6 months for about $6 a month.

Sorry you were given the run around, guess they're just trying to keep customers.

banjo bill-e I got mad at AT&T several years ago and went with another carrier, then I called AT&T and told them what I'd done. They were upset and mad and even made a few nasty remarks, but I told them they screwed me around, so I just returned the favor. Also told them I'd pay the last bill but if they sent me any more, I wouldn't and they could take it and ..... do whatever they wished with it. Never heard from them again.

I also did the same with Dish many years ago.... went with another company and then called and told them to cancel my service since I was with someone else.  They weren't happy, either, but wasn't much they could do about it.

I used to be a regular at a neighbourhood pub that had Sirius radio. The bartender would switch it over to B.G.J. if it wasn't on already when I dropped in. I know there's other good stuff on there & I usually stopped in after work but it seemed like the same loop every night.

That was in Alberta. A friend from there came to visit me when I moved here. He was happy to show me he had Sirius radio you could use in & out of his vehicle. We used it on a road trip & it kept cutting in & out whenever we went behind a mountain. The strongest signal I get here is from Washington State Northwest Public Broadcasting 90.1 on the radio dial.

Comcast continued to bill my business account after I had closed my store. I had returned all of their equipment and had a receipt for that, and I had email confirmation that my account was closed. That did not stop the billings or the the collection efforts or notices that my contract had automatically renewed and I was on the hook for several more months, etc. It took HOURS on the phone---on three different days--- with reps whose native language is not English, several holds, several transfers, to finally get them to leave me, and my credit rating, alone.
I do not plan on ever signing another contract with them. ATT was almost as bad years ago when I left them for Comcast.

Well, it costs itself, but my advice when having $ trouble is to sic a lawyer on the problem. Example: we paid off our mortgage, and asked for the papers. The firm handling the payments kept putting us off. Finally, after 2 months of letters and phone calls by me to them, I asked my lawyer to contact them. Papers arrived very quickly, I think within a week. Case solved :-).

I kind of do the same thing Sherry.  I always put on my calander to unsubscribe about a week before my 6 months is up.  When I unsubscribe I tell them I am not going to waste time on their sales pitch and if they want to renew me for $36 I'll do that but I'm not going through their pitch.  It has worked so far!
