Midwest Banjo Camp is a 4-day camp at Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan. The 2020 camp will be held from June 4-7, 2020. We are primarily a 5-string banjo camp (although we also have tracks in Mandolin, Guitar, Dobro, fiddle, and tenor banjo. Yes, TENOR BANJO. This will be the 3rd year we have had a track in tenor banjo, and we're thrilled to have Don Vappie as our primary tenor teacher. But our primary teachers generally teach 6 or 7 classes, and we need someone to teach a couple of other classes to fill out the program. We are looking for someone within driving distance of Olivet, with a solid background and teaching experience in tenor banjo (jazz/dixieland style), who might be interested in this position. Please drop us a note at info@midwestbanjocamp.com if that might be you!
Thanks!

This is good news and encouraging. And perhaps eventually both Irish tenor (GDAE) and plectrum style (usually CGBD) will also be considered. for inclusion. I'm primarily a 5 string player, but have also played plectrum style for decades, which shares the Dixieland/jazz/20's-30's genre with tenor jazz players, and have witnessed the sad decline of plectrum popularity, which had a second rebirth in the 60's, only to gradually fade ever since to the point where most plectrum players are over 65.

I second the suggestion for some GDAE Irish sessions. I would gladly return to Midwest Banjo Camp. There is a real dearth of Irish camps and learning opportunities in the midwest.
