Sometime ago, dunno when, Eddy posted a video and lead sheet for a tune he wrote long ago...the tune is: "Everybody Loves a good & old time banjo song"

I'd love to find that post but it didn't show up in a search I just did.....so if anyone can help me find it I'd love to learn this tune..

Thanks
Dogface

You might send a PM to Eddy and see what he can turn up.

Hey Mark, Marco @CGDA posted a nice video version of that. You might also reach out to him if you don’t hear from Eddy.

Here's the post with the lead sheet: banjohangout.org/archive/339095

If you go to youtube, you can find two versions of Eddy playing it.

Hey Mark, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner -- here's two lead sheets one in the key of C and a second in the key of F. I'd love for you to play (sing) this song. I have many other Banjo type songs that I wish people would perform. AND of course thanks to by old BUDDY Marco for playing my stuff -- AND you too Rob! Eddy

Eddy,

Thank you so much for this... I really usually prefer to play in F so glad you included that version too..  If I didn't tell you before, my best friend in the music world in addition to Steve Caddick, is Carl Lunsford who was my very first tenor banjo mentor... We remain very good friends and I see him whenever I can... He's 86 now and still playing gigs in the Bay Area...  I think you two played together long ago...

Have a great Christmas and New Year... Thanks again,

Mark, aka Dogface

Hey Mark, Yes -- I sure do know Carl. How is he -- 86 you say. Well I'm turning 80 next year myself. Please be sure to give my best to Carl and a Happy Holidays. AND please express all the same to Mr. SMOOTH (Dave Marty). Let me know how it goes with the song. If you have any questions please let me know. Eddy Davis

Eddy:

Carl is still hanging in there but has had some scary times medically in the past few months with heart stuff and aneurisms that needed fixing...It was hard on him and he looks a bit frail..  He still plays gigs on weekends though and that is good for him...He and I have been friends since the early 70's when he mentored me on tenor.  He was still with Turk Murphy then at McGoons...great times... I will write to him this morning and pass along your best regards...

Great playing Sam.

Mark, how are you doing with this song? I hope Carl is doing well -- does he still live on the Houseboat in Sausalito?

NOW -- SAM, Froganddog -- you sound great! I love your performance on Mimi's Theme. Tell me about yourself and you in London. Do you know Carrie -- Hobogal?

Eddy,  I'm doing well on on it but have not completely memorized it yet... I find it easy to play from the lead sheet you posted but have to stop and scroll down when it's on my screen...no big deal.. I really love this piece and thank you for providing it for me... I play it in C like Sam does and my fingers just fall on the frets easily... I'm sure this tune will be a favorite of mine to play...

Yes, Carl and his wife Donna still live on a houseboat in Sausalito and have as long as I have known him since about 1973.. He was my first mentor on the TB and we've been close friends ever since.  I love him like a Big Brother :)

Thanks @greenmeat ! - I am aspiring to get better at tenor banjo and I look forward to be active on here in 2020, trying to keep up with everyone and add my input of videos, its great to find a community - I don't really know any other tenor players. I have tried a bit before to post on here and I think I had one email exchange with @hobogal but I don't know her. I am an upright bass player and aspiring tailor. I have been playing in a circus in england for the past 4 year but have left for now. OK - here is to more banjo music and inspiration in 2020 - I am sort of going though the archives to see what I've been missing - I saw that soliliquy for banjo you posted - going to give that a shot next!

I like the posts from the Young Eddy Davis too, sitting on the step playing (and now I can’t come up with the name!) Eddy Lang’s? Guitar!

Thanks Eddy, I need to learn it in both keys. It will help me sort out my mandolin chops from my tenor chops. Hopefully we can do this in Dearborn in April. Love the melody, especially some of the altered notes.
