That’s some going. It’s backbreaking work, I don’t think many of the farmers round here would want to keep even half that pace up for long.

Certainly a young person's game. Most shearers use a harness nowadays, but I couldn't see any near the world record holder. That's pretty hard core what she achieved.

I was in an Australian band in Toronto, playing Caravan, the ethnic festival held in venues all over town (we were in the Tranzac Club). We were the first act on, followed by a sheep shearing demo. The shearing, and "whatever" the sheep left on stage that didn't get swept up, was followed by the Maori, who danced barefoot. Yuck!

The shearing was always interesting to watch, though, and the shearer's ability to handle the sheep, let alone the shearing, was fascinating.

And I got a free lamb dinner every night. Yum!
