Pictures, a description and some general idea as to the instrument would help quite a bit.

Alvin’s right, of course. Otherwise you know as much as we can say—it’s a banjo.

..and without pictures, can we ever really say it was a banjo? It may have been (shock, horror) a banjitar!

Looks like a pristine 1934 RB Granada flathead to me, but I could be wrong...

If you're pretty sure about that, I'll make an offer sight unseen!

If the body is triangular, and about 1.3 meters across the bottom, it MAY be a balaliaka.

A Bee Gas Balaliaka.

The more pictures you post, the better our help shall be.

Seriously: Welcome to the HangOut. Many of us DO enjoy being helpful, but without adequate information, we are as helpless as a  whatever.

As an expert here on banjo hangout, i have deliver the unfortunate news that, in my so expert opinion. This is not an authentic banjo from the time period. It was made later, by a company that I obviously do no respect and have worded my response in a way to make you feel inferior because you thought the banjo was neat and I know more about antique banjos than any grown man should.

enjoy the hangout!
