That is a mighty tune Phil. Sure would like to hear it played on banjo.

Love Tuba Skinny. Jubilee Stomp is a great Ellington tune but it has so many notes - interested to see how would you approach it as a lead instrument.

Jubilee Stomp is at 103:40 on this clip. It is a feature for Conal Fowles but I play a plenty on it also. It is a great song by the Great Duke Ellington. I would LOVE to hear any and all of you play this great song. Eddy "The Manhattan Minstrel" Davis
This is a video of a concert in France in October of 2017. If you don't speak French and want to by pass the opening announcement skip to # 3:38, but please listen to the whole concert. Conal and I are pleased with this performance. We have sone very strange tunes for a Piano and Banjo. We hope you enjoy it. Eddy Davis and Conal Fowkes.

@JackRyanNPU

No sir, Chicago tuning. I play guitar too (so I can make the same errors on both ;-)

Thanks for introducing Jubilee Stomp, what a great tune, how did I not know it?

My trio is definitely gonna learn this one, and our eccentric sax genius leader will be all over this tune, especially the wonderful Otto Hardwick alto A section.

I recorded an arrangement of this song with my band a few months ago, with a short tenor banjo solo :)

Antonio, for those of us who don’t use Spotify, could you post an MP3 here?

jazzbanjoman - Posted - 08/27/2019:  07:54:50

Phil,

This is a very good chart of this song. What is the name of the fakebook that had this song? Is that fakebook available on line for purchase or download?

Thanks,

Stephen DiBonaventura

Hi Will ! Here you have it in Mp3

Thanks, Antonio! Great band and nice banjo solo, too!

Often in the past, I've used Google to try and track down sheet music, searching piano versions of a song sometimes pays off. The sheet music of my last mp3, ''Blaze Away March,'' I found this way.

I just entered this tune, and once again it came up trumps ..... here's the link ...... youtube.com/watch?v=4uh3ZgcOaC4

Thanks Eddy and Antonio, love your work!. .... Don.

Stephan,

The lead sheet I posted was compiled by John Skillman leader of the jazz band I play with.

Great player, great charts!

Yes, he's a great player...when he writes the score, as a banjo player you sure get to use a lot of new chords that you wouldn't normally use......he likes lots of changes (i.e. Jubilee Stomp).

Phil
