You should not use any codec for recording or mixing. That means uncompressed .wav or .aiff files. It's best to record in 24 bit if your hardware supports that. Codecs are only meant for distribution of the final mix when size might matter.
Yes Joe. I should have been more specific. when importing some audio files my program will not recognize the file I should convert the files to wav ,then import. That's where I need the codec to do the conversion.
Hi Joe Band in a box automatically converts files for use within BIAB and also allows rendering to a format of your choice wav, mp3 and others. Audacity wont allow importing a non recognized file, same with Win media player, usually occurring with a prompt box suggesting non proper codecs.
