First of all, all I have is a smart phone; no computer. I'm very illiterate with technology. I've seen tabs posted on this site that seem like they are just a simple pic of sheet music taken with a smart phone. I'm not interested in purchasing any software to do this. I get confused trying to download the free software. I'd just like to know how one would go about posting a tab, etc. using a pic taken from a smart phone. I'm pretty certain I've seen it done before on this site. Is it even still possible? If so, can someone instruct me on how to do this. Reminder- I'm very tech illiterate so please advise me in layman's terms. Thank you for your help.

Tabs have to be text or pdf. if you are just going to attach to a thread that you create. Unfortunately you cannot post tabledit files unless you create a link somehow. And I am unsure on the process to do that. Someone will probably follow up on the how to right here.

Get a piece of paper and write this down and hand it, along with your sheet(s) of tab, to any teenager you meet.
"Please scan this and export it in pdf format. Then, upload it to my BHO account for me? Thanks, I'd really appreciate it." Then give him a few bucks to show your appreciation. Is that low tech enough for you to understand? Good luck.

Hi Harry, (if no teenagers are around), take a pic of your written out tab, then enter your message about the tab on the thread you want it on, click “ upload photos”, it gives you the option then to “choose file”, click the photo of the tab, then click “ upload photo” , then click “post message”.

Thanks for the advice to the couple of you that were kind and took my question seriously. I will try out your instructions. Aside from that, this next part is for the guy who calls himself Moooo. You should chill out with your sarcastic attitude. No matter how great you think you are at anything, there is always going to be someone better than you. I've seen a lot of sarcastic posts from you as if you're God's gift to the banjo. Think about it and humble yourself. You'll gain back the respect you've lost attempting to demean others. If you spent as much time practicing your banjo as you do posting on social media forums you'd be a household name by now. See how easy but unnecessary my last comment was. This forum should be about helping each other, and that's it. I'm curious to see if you'll try and put me down again, or be an adult and let it go.

Harry, it is difficult to read all of the nuances in emails and text messages, but I did not read as much sarcasm into his response as you did. Moooo shares lots of tabs with others here and generally tries to offer help when he can. I suppose I factored that additional context into my reading of his message. His suggestion is a valid one if you have a teenager around. He may have erred in trying to add some humor to his message. Chucky97's advice is a closer match to your request, and I hope you find it helpful.

Hi Harry,

If you wait for a few days, someone will come along and help you with what you're asking. I have never had an Iphone or smartphone but I do have laptops and desktops. So I can't help you with regards to Iphone or any smart phone translations of tabs to BHO...Good Luck...Jack   p.s. as David Brooks mentioned, don't take these posts too seriously. People post in different ways on BHO. You will probably need advice from an advanced tech type of person. I'm not sure that teenagers would always be the answer as this is a BHO question and teenagers who aren't familiar with Tablature etc. may not know what to do ...

I wasn't being sarcastic at all, but in the future, hopefully I will remember you and won't try to help you out.

I apologize if I took your humor the wrong way. Sometimes it's hard to read ones intentions through written word. But, to prove my point...look at the sarcastic negativity in your latest comment. It will actually be a good thing if you don't help me out in the future, it will give you more time to actually practice your banjo instead of chit chatting on social media all day.

You seem to be stuck on my having time to practice. I practice a lot, at least a couple of hours a day, usually 3-4 hours. I don't know why you keep advising me to practice more. I am not interested in becoming a famous banjo picker, maybe that is your dream, but not mine. I like to help people out, if it's not appreciated, fine. As far as my sarcastic negativity on this latest comment, I again, wasn't being sarcastic. I am truly saying to you, that I will not offer any solid, simple advice, that would easily solve your problem. Hopefully I will remember the next time I think up some simple solution to your problem to not offer it to you since it will be met with repeated insults about the amount of time I practice and how much I try to help others out and try to have fun in the process. The BHO is the only social medium that I use, so I don't know why you assume that I am chit chatting on social media all day, nor do I particularly care.

Im sure MOOOO meant no disrespect. He was just making a funny social commentary.(I laughed)

I think photos must be uploaded on the hangout as JPGs.

Hey Jack. I like your demeanor. You seem to be a truly understanding peacemaker. I check out what's going on in BHO maybe once a month, if that, and I'll remember you. I'm 37 years old, happily retired, and am lucky enough to have the time to practice 8 plus hrs every day. I don't post you tube videos or anything like that. I mostly keep to myself and don't tell many people I even play banjo. I simply compose and practice all day knowing no one will ever see my work, which I actually find comforting. I'm going to try and post a couple of my tunes this week to share a little of my work with the community. I mostly play classical with a bluegrass twist. I'll transpose it into tab because it seems like most people on this site find it easier to read than notation. I'm sure there will be a few harsh critics because it's classical, and that's ok. I first need to figure out Chuck V's advice on how to post a cell phone pic of sheet music. I just wanted to share a little about myself with you because you seem truly down to earth. I hope you are able to view my work and feel free to tell me your honest opinion of it. Take care.

Harry,

Will do. Most people on BHO are usually pretty laid back....Jack

The same way you'd post any photo. Download the photo to your page, then go to the attachments at the bottom and click on the photo.
