"The Manhattan Minstrel" Eddy Davis playing and singing a song written by the Great Black Violinist Stuff Smith. The members of the Eddie Condon Band loved this tune. I use to play it all the time with them. Bobby Gordon use to want to play this tune all of the time also. It is performed on Davis' Custom OME 12' head - 17 fret neck Tenor Banjo. HEY THERE PEOPLE IT SEEMS THAT THE HANGOUT IS NOT DOING WELL AT THE MOMENT ---------- WHAT DO I DO TO GET THE MOMENTUM GOING AGAIN? The spirit seems to have gone out a bit. WOULD IT MAKE IT BETTER OR WORSE IF I PUT UP A VIDEO EACH AS I DO ON MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL? What is it everyone wants this HANGOUT to be? I'm willing to try --- Let's Talk. Eddy Davis (Banjo Lover)
Hey Pat, I'm sure Johnny played this tune with the Condon Guys -- AND the one I have up today also -- It's "Diane" It was one of those NY guys and Jack (Teagarden's) tunes. Hey, maybe you and I and Johnny could have a go at some tunes like these? He's sure played some great Piano. I sure loved those days. Eddy OH! ---- Conal says he wants to get in on it too!
Hey Eddy - now that sure would be something, the four of us! I down with it!
Teagarden wrote some great music and “Diane” is no exclusion. Did he also write the song “Forever”? One of the bands I toured with always played that song as a trombone feature and I can’t recall if maybe Jack or Turk wrote it??? Maybe neither.
