Attn hangout members - does anyone know of a source to obtain new (or used - although of course, used ones do pop up now and then here and a few other places online, i.e. ebay, now and then) Mother of Pearl banjo tuner buttons? I have located some for mando, but that's about it... whazup' with that?

They are very difficult to find. Andy DePaule told me if I sent him one, he's see if he could get his Vietnamese pearl cutters to make some. But I never did.

I don’t believe any company is currently producing them commercially for banjos. Your best bet is to modify and shape some guitar buttons and even those seem to be limited in viable options for conversion.
Making your own set of buttons isn’t that hard but do take the nessisary precautions of working with the material and practice on some plastic ones to get a feel for what you need to do to get a good fit.

Stew-Mac gets them in. I don’t know if you can buy the knobs separately but, if you want them gold plated and engraved...
