For my masterclone I use an inexpensive akg small diaphragm condenser,my question is since the baritone is tuned down7 frets to C and has a 12 inch head would a large diaphragm be the best mic for playing in the practice recording room .No computer access necessary. We are talking 150 dollars tops.
thanks ahead of time Tom

Wouldn't hurt to check the frequency response curve of your current mic, but I have a hard time believing that it won't do just fine. Seven frets as described would take you to G2, which has a frequency of 98 hz. That should be well within the capabilities of most SDC mics.

I would stick with a small diaphragm condenser. Most guitar players use SDC to record acoustic guitar, which is a very similar range to the baritone banjo.
