"The Manhattan Minstrel" Eddy Davis playing and singing a tune written in 1951 by Hank Williams. Tony Bennett had a cross-over hit on the top of the charts. Davis plays it on his custom OME 12" head, 17 fret finger board tenor banjo. If you listen to the end of the video I tell when I saw Mr. Williams in 1949 when I was nine years old. AT THE GRAND OLD OPRY! Eddy
You've made my day playin' Hank Williams Eddy, good onya' for posting.
Hank was the Fats of country music for sure. In the many impromptu jam sessions I played in at the New Orleans FIGA convention back in 94, I made sure to include some of Hanks songs ..... I'd play the lead, and call the chords out, so the rest of the players could join in, and they all loved it!. Just about all of Hanks songs come up beaut on banjo, and I could never work out, why nobody played them on banjo .... you've broken the ice Eddy!. ... Don.
