I love to do these tunes that the "Jazz World" so respects and no one plays them on the Banjo. They are beautiful "highly respected" tunes and to me they sound Beautiful on the Banjo. So I play them for that reason and for the respect of the "Banjo as a Musical Instrument".
"The Manhattan Minstrel" Eddy Davis playing a SOLO instrumental version of the Jazz Standard Ballad written by Famed Trumpeter Thad Jones in 1969. (Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra) Lyrics were added later by Alex Wilder. It has been recorded by many including Tony Bennett and the great Pianist "Bill Evans". Davis is playing his Custom OME 12' head - 17 fret neck Tenor Banjo. Eddy

Thanks, Eddy! I’m ready to contribute to a fund to get you into a recording studio for a solo recording.  Anyone else?

Although Eddy has widely demonstrated that he can play any kind of music on his instrument alone, the proposal I would prefer is to record a new CD / DVD of his legendary quartet: Eddy - bjo and voc, Conal pno and voc ... yes there are four parts in that line up! That project would really worth a crowdfunding and I'd give my contribution for sure!

I love the dynamic control you have on that tremolo, smooth . It is almost one solid sustain sound ,such as a horn or bowed instrument.

I think that a solo cd by Eddy would be a gift from God!
