I've always wanted to come up with a good arrangement for shady grove in Gm tuning. I've never come up with anything I'm totally happy with.

Curious if anyone else has tried this. would love to hear sound samples or whatever you have to offer. thanks in Advance

The traditional Shady Grove is often played in G Modal Tuning, i.e. gDGCD . Modern "Country" or Americana bands often sing Shady Grove but play a melody closer to Fly Around My Pretty Little Miss in a regular G major key where you would probably use gDGBD tuning.

I think you will find this Doc Watson version to be close to traditional and played out of G Modal tuning although it can be played by keeping your finger on the 1st fret 2nd string in G Tuning

Yup! I started playing it that way many moons ago, and it stuck as my preferred tuning for the song. So dramatic!

to be clear, this is something like g D G Bb D
