I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how the banjo could be used in such a way to create a unique sound that was electric but still uniquely banjo (think b.b. king sounding). Open to new ideas I have a gold tone bg 250 banjo with a pick up, but when plugged into an amplifier it can still make some funky sounds, although not necessary pleasant ones.

I use an SM58 capsule mounted inside the Banjo thru a small mic pre into the amp. Reverb EQ and compression are all I use to shape/alter the sound

Start with a good pickup like fishman,Jones, etc. that will give you an excellent banjo tone then add electronic stuff for whatever electric sound you are looking for.

If you play through something like a Lace pickup you'll get an entirely electric tone with no hint of banjo tone such as Buck Trent's Porter Wagoner days.
