I recently updated to windows 10, now having problems with tabledit and playing the sound on the tab files. I have to open the midi settings and change the default file every time i play a tab. Anyway to fix that.

I think Tabledit is working on the problem.  There have been a couple of threads about it.

Look here for more information on sound problems with Tabledit:  banjohangout.org/pages/search....prolblems

Somewhere in all those threads is the thread about problems with Windows 10.

The ultimate fix will be on Microsoft's end, this is what we have in the meantime:

In Windows 10 there is an issue on some computers with "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" not producing sound. When this occurs, the TablEdit MIDI options button will have an "X" over it to indicate that the MIDI driver is not available.

This is a known Microsoft issue affecting many programs that use MIDI output, including TablEdit. This is documented in Microsoft Technet at tinyurl.com/Win10MIDI

Changing the MIDI driver after you open TablEdit resolves the issue. (The latest version of TablEdit or TEFview will prompt this by opening the MIDI Setup dialog if the MIDI driver is unavailable.)

However the best solution is to install Coolsoft VirtualMIDISynth.
(We have a video on this at youtu.be/cx5bVpVbQXY )

Pros:
* Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth and MIDImapper will work flawlessly.
* In addition you will have access to high quality sound fonts if you select Coolsoft VirtualMIDISynth as MIDI driver.

Cons:
* If you are using a too large soundfont on a slow PC, TablEdit may open more slowly.

Please refer to the TablEdit Yahoo Group at groups.yahoo.com/group/TablEdit/ for the most up to date information.
